Top Ten Reasons Cats are Funny

Cats can be absolutely funny animals.  People all over the internet love posting funny pictures of cats.  They are very popular.  I have a top ten list of why cats are so funny.  Here we go.

Funny Kitten

10. They don’t mean to be. Sometimes it is super funny when its not supposed to be.

9. They are so darn cute. For some reason a cats cuteness helps it become very funny.  Kittens are so adorable you can’t help but laugh.

8. They make funny faces. Cats can sometimes make the most weird faces and expressions and when caught by a camera it is very funny.

7. Healthy cats make funnier cats.  This really isn’t a reason but it is good to know.  Healthy cats are happier cats you happy cats will be the most fun and exciting.  If your cat has issues then be sure to get them the pet medication they may need in order to get healthy.  You can check out Petmeds Coupons to save a few bucks.

6. They are fuzzy. Some of the most hilarious cats are the ones that have tons and tons of fir.  They look extremely fat, but most of the time it is just the huge amount of fur.

5. They make funny sounds. Cats sometimes make the most unbelievable sounds that can be so funny.  Especially when they are playing with other cats.  This happens a lot with kittens.

4. They stand on their hind legs.  Have you ever seen a cat stand on its hind legs and lift up its hands?  It is so great.  You have to see it.

3. They are so energetic.  A cat can go wild.  Especially if it chases a flashlight.  When cats run around and go crazy it can be very funny.

2. They are so cuddly. Cats and kittens are just so cuddly.  You can just hug them and squeeze them.  That is why some of the LOLCats are so funny.  They take good pictures and just look so squeezable.

Tips In Teaching Your Dog To Use The Treadmill

I have always been a pet lover. With that said, you can imagine just how many pets I have had through the past years. From “regular” house pets such as dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, and rabbits, down to more exotic snakes, iguanas, and even spiders, I have pretty much had a whole lot of experience with animals in general.

Recently a friend asked me about her pet puppy and how she can train it to do all sorts of things. She also mentioned that she had happened to see a video of a dog walking on a treadmill and how she could teach her own dog to do that as well. She explained that because of the limited time she had to actually go outside and walk her dog, it may be a good idea to use her treadmill for its daily exercise.

Naturally, I was quite happy to assist her. A pet dog really does need a lot of exercise, and if it is not really possible to regularly bring your dog out on walks in say, a park of some sort, a treadmill is a very good alternative. The best thing about using a treadmill to walk your dog is that it is so very convenient to do rather than having to bring your pet out of the house.

Now, if you don’t have a treadmill yet, it’s worth you having a look at a variety of ratings on treadmills from a variety of different sites … standard ‘made-for-human-use’ ones are fine. If you already do have a treadmill of your own, then all is well.

The following great tips will help you to teach your dog how to use a treadmill in no time:

  • Face the treadmill away from the wall so the dog will not think that it is walking into the wall.
  • Incorporate clicker training into this.
  • Make sure to “introduce” the treadmill little by little to your dog. Never force it.
  • Make your dog (first) get accustomed to standing on the tread belt first and give it treats for obedience.
  • Get your dog accustomed to the sound of the running treadmill while it is not on it.
  • Use a leash.
  • Start out at a very slow speed and use treats as a lure, together with generous amounts of praise.

The Needs Of A Pet

When I was growing up we had loads of pets around.  My family owned a small motel and many people in those days loved the idea of living on or near a farm.  They would come from the big city to our small town and love to see various animals that you just couldn’t see in the city.  They especially liked horses and ponies, but any sort of wildlife would do just fine.  So, I guess that you could say this was part of our business model.

Let’s see…what animals did we have…  We had two ponies and a little calf.  An assortment of dogs and cats came along at some point…all mixed breed and none purebred.  We had a couple of guinea pigs and some hamsters (they really exploded when I wouldn’t tell the difference between boys and girls and didn’t have separate cages).  I remember a budgie or two and an assortment of gold fish and rabbits.  I also remember having some small little “pets” called Sea Monkeys…and “whatever” I could make a pet out of from the creek that ran behind our house.  Yes…we sure had quite the collection of animals.

Given all this assortment of animals I feel a bit qualified on what makes a good pet and how to take care of them.  The first thing you need to understand that a pet is an animal and not a mechanical object for your own enjoyment.  You can’t neglect it and expect it to have a happy and productive life.  Go to your local library (or the internet) and read a bit about what their natural habitat is like and try to mimic that as much as possible.  There are plenty of good pet books out there that will give you lots of good tips on feeding and caring for your pets.

Love.  Love makes the world go round and this is the same when it comes to the world of pets.  Your pet needs your love and care in order to survive.  Make sure that you provide it for them in ample portions.

You don’t really need to spend a fortune on a pet either (unless you have tigers or something really exotic).  No need to get a job in IT Sales or WallStreet to support it.  Those fancy toys and things in the pet store might look nice, but they are mostly unnecessary.

Armed with these tips your pet will live a very long and productive life and will be very entertaining.  You don’t need to have as many pets as we had when we were growing up, but whether you have one or one hundred and one, make sure that they are well cared for and loved…

Considering Dog Insurance

Pets help you in several ways. They offer comfort and companionship, and they also give you love and loyalty regardless of who you are. Moreover, dogs are great at protecting you and your home from burglars. For these reasons, it’s only apt that you also provide your pooch with the protection it needs.

So, how do you protect your dog? There are many ways to safeguard the wellbeing of your animals. For one, you should give your pet a good home. It is also important that you preserve your animal’s good health. But safeguarding the wellbeing of your dog isn’t just about its physical or emotional needs.

It’s also about ensuring that your animal is protected from dangerous circumstances that have not yet happened, but have possibility of occurring. What sorts of unforeseen situations are these? Well, there are a number of future events that can affect you and your dog in many ways. Below are some examples.

Protecting Dog from Dog Biting Accidents

When your dog bites someone, this person has every right to hire personal injury lawyers, like those at Bob M. Cohen & Associates, and sue you for negligence. You can also hire your own lawyer to represent you when this happens. But how do you protect your dog from such situations? For one, with dog bite insurance, you will most likely avoid shouldering the cost of expenses in relation to the dog attack.

Dog bite coverage can include coverage for a victim’s medical bills, as well as lost earnings, disability, emotional trauma, and physical deformity. Because dog bite insurance usually only covers certain breeds, it will be to your advantage to have one as this will establish that your dog is insurable. Aggressive breeds are often not insured. You can check the Dangerous Dog Act if you want to find out which breeds are typically insurable or not.

Protecting Dog from Car Accidents

You can avail of car accident insurance for your pet, especially if your dog is often on the road with you. Pet car accident insurance can cover regular check-ups to more expensive medical treatments, depending on the policy that you get for your pet. Check Bob Cohen Law.com or other reliable legal sites to learn more about the benefits of having pet insurance, particularly in relation to auto accidents.

Still, another benefit of having insurance like this is that you won’t get burdened with your pet’s medical costs if ever you and your dog get into a road traffic accident. Instead, you can focus your attention and spend your money on yourself or a loved one who may also have been injured during the incident. Nevertheless, you have to put the security of your family first and consider getting policies for them before you think about paying for your animal’s insurance premiums.

Homeless Pets

Believe it or not, the current (global?) financial climate is also affecting pets. The fact that more and more families are dealing with the loss of their home is old news but – were you aware that a foreclosure can also affect family pets?

Makes sense when you think about it. More and more pets are finding themselves without homes, usually ending up in pet shelters but in some cases not even that lucky. Losing a home is a traumatic experience for families large or small, and the stress of trying to find a new family home for the human members of the family is one thing – and another for the dog.

Or cat, rabbits, birds – all suffer in equal measures. Often times families are taken in by families and friends, or they’re lucky enough to rent somewhere but the rental doesn’t include allowing them to keep their pets.

This is why it’s so important that you consider offering your home to an unwanted cat, dog or other domestic animal. There are so many in the system right now, with more no doubt waiting in the wings – and the more families that step up to the plate, the more animals are given a second chance.

Stay away from the puppy mills and back-street breeders. Do your research and adopt! Animal adoption is a lovely way to welcome a new family member into your home and you’re kinda covering two bases in one – filling a gap in your home, and giving a homeless pet a wonderful new home!
